Cows evacuated from blazing barn
Firefighters control fire at Goodleigh farm
LIVESTOCK had to be evacuated from a blazing barn on the outskirts of Barnstaple this morning (Thursday).
Around 25 calves were removed from the farm building at Goodleigh as firefighters battled to put out the fire.
The alarm was raised at around 6am and the first crew on scene said that the 20 by 10 metre barn, which also contained hay, was “well alight†on arrival.
Crews used three hose reel jets and a mechanical digger to remove the hay and control the fire during a five-and-a-half-hour operation.
