NORTH Devon’s premier lifestyle, surf and music festival GoldCoast Oceanfest has announced that Children’s Hospice South West has been chosen as its lead nominated charity for 2011.

With every ticket sold for the event at Croyde over the summer solstice weekend of June 17-19 a donation will go to the hospice and throughout the festival organisers will be running a fund raising and awareness campaign for the charity, supported by the North Devon Gazette, Heart FM and Stagecoach Devon.

It continues a tradition of support that has seen free tickets and hospitality offered each year for families staying at Little Bridge House in Fremington for respite care during festival weekend.

The GoldCoast also works alongside and supports a range of charities with real meaning to North Devon, including the National Trust, RNLI, ShelterBox, the Biosphere, Seize the Moment and Croyde Lifesaving club.

Now organisers say they hope to lift commitment even further to raise the profile of and funds for a growing number of worthy causes.

GoldCoast has also created a unique weekend experience that money can’t buy, a VIP package will be auctioned as part of the Children’s Hospice UK “Have a Heart Appeal Week” on the Heart FM breakfast show from Monday to Friday next week (February – March 4.)

Auction prizes include a three day family ticket, free official event tee shirts and merchandise, access to VIP areas and the chance to see behind the scenes.

Other include accommodation at Ruda holiday park for June 17 & 18 plus family Explorer vouchers thanks to Stagecoach Devon. Darren Burrett and his Surf South West team are offering the family a half day surf lesson for all abilities, equipment included.
