Kingsley School gymnasts won silver medals at the British Schools’ Gymnastics Championships and helped the South West to win the regional title.
The U13 mixed team qualified in March to represent the South West in the floor and vault section. Jasmine Boyd returned from injury to perform a neat floor routine and Sophie Johns was able to demonstrate her skills despite her music not being played. Louis Beaumont and Joe Taylor-Richards also scored well on the floor. The team vaulted well and Harrison East and Daisy Scott showed their power and controlled this with secure landings.
Competing again teams from 10 English regions and from Scotland, Northern Ireland and Wales, the Kingsley gymnasts were in first place throughout the day and keeping a close eye on the teams left to compete. The final team out were from Yorkshire and when the scores were posted, they just defeated Kingsley School.
Sophie Johns had also been selected to represent the SW region in the tumbling section and only narrowly missed out on a medal by 0.2pts, finishing fourth out of the 26 competitors.
