Bideford relentless

BIDEFORD’S relentless march towards the Western Counties Division continued with a 39-10 win over Cornwall & Devon strugglers Saltash.

The Ashes competed in the first half and were level at 10-all going into part two.

Bideford went into overdrive from the re-start running in five tries to their first-half total. Saltash opened the scoring after the half-hour. They were getting a lot of possession and after some good inter-passing wing James Moriati scored.

The hosts hit back with a good penalty from fly-half Ollie Wickett soon after, but in injury time Ashes came again with Will Morton over in the corner.

Back came Bideford with wing Chris Snell breaking through to score for Wickett to add the extras.

The second period was another matter. Ashes didn’t score again and five cracking home tries came from flanker Matt Dennis, centre Dave Slee with two, prop O’Sullivan and wing James Buckland, with Wickett converting both of Slee’s scores.

Bideford face a stiff test this Saturday when Totnes bring their 13-game unbeaten run to King George’s.
