Bideford Ladies restart rugby season with tough Crediton challenge

North Devon Gazette

After wet weather forced the postponement of Bideford Ladies’ first rugby encounter of 2022, the team finally got out on the pitch for a tough challenge against Crediton in the Women’s National Championship 2 South-West division.Â

In the end, it proved a big task for the Bideford ladies, as they succumbed to a 26-0 defeat against a side pushing hard at the top of a table that also includes teams from Launceston, Bude, Totnes and Teignmouth.Â

Despite the result, all those in attendance were hugely impressed with the skill and commitment on display from the Bideford team, who are continuing to make great strides under the guidance of head coach Jason Gubb.Â

Hannah Lovering-Bright was nominated as the Bideford back of the Match, while Emma Townsend and Sarah Taylor-Salkeld were the top home forwards on display. Â

Bideford’s next game is scheduled for February 6 at home to Teignmouth Ladies. Â
