BIDEFORD are guaranteed Western Counties rugby next season after a 70-0 derby win over Torrington at King George’s Field.
Only second-placed St Austell can overhaul Bideford now and as the top two go up automatically, only the title remains to play for.
Chris Snell scored a try hat-trick of tries and Sam Olde bagged a pair, taking his tally for the season to 34.
Other try scorers were Harvey Brown (2), James Starkey, Jamie O’Sullivan, James Buckland, Adam Crouch and Paul Thomas.
Snell and Dave Slee shared the kicking duties.
Bideford coach Kevin Booth said Torrington were on the receiving end of the sort of treatment they used to hand out.
“Torrington used to destroy us up front all the time – now we are doing it to them,†said Booth.“The forwards won the ball well and got the backs going out wide to devastating effect.Torrington did have some chances, but our defence was too strong for them.â€
Bideford are at home to Liskeard-Looe this Saturday. Torrington have no game.
