Bideford culture show and art workshops

Bideford is holding a culture show.

Organised by the Bideford Bay Creatives group, it will feature art sessions throughout the half term holiday.

The show was originally organised to display art in venues other than recognised gallery spaces and to also work with local businesses. Current venues include ASDA, Gerties Cafe, Britannia, Quay Steps, Quayside Cafe, The Apothecary, Blazeys, Walter Henrys, Victoria Park and Complete Computing.

The event, which runs until the end of this month, now includes art workshops during the half term, with four artists delivering sessions on batik, photography, pottery and monoprinting.

Dave Green is holding a free digital camera workshop from 2.30-4.30 on October 24. The session starts outside Walter Henry’s bookshop and visits displays in other local venues before the workshop is held at Gerties Caf�. To book a place email:

Janet Jopson will run a batik workshop for those 14 years and upwards on October 26. A competed artwork will be made in two hours for just �5 to cover the cost of materials. The session starts at 10am and ends at 12.30 at her studio, 119 Bay View Road, Northam. Booking is essential. Telephone 01237 421344 or email

Also on October 26, Rosie Burns will be holding an animal sculpture ceramic workshop for children seven-14 years from 10.30-3.30 at the Pigeon Pottery Club, Torridge Hill, Bideford. The cost of �15 covers clay and firing work. Book on 07743282804 or email and bring a packed lunch.

The final event on October 27 is for children and adults of all ages. Create a monoprint collage with Annabel Hill. The session will be held at the Quayside Cafe, Bideford, from 2.30- 4.30pm. A minimum donation to cover the material costs. For more information call 01237 476159 or email
