Bideford cricket plans bolstered by South African signing

Bideford have strengthened their squad for the season ahead by signing South African all-rounder Clayton Malgas.Â

Bideford had it all to do after losing their first three games in the Tolchards DCL B Division last season and eventually finished just below halfway in the table.Â

Malgas is a 23-year-old all-rounder from Gauteng, SA, who has played in the Gauteng Province Premier League and, more recently, in the Northern Premier League.Â

Tom Brend, Bideford’s newly installed captain, said the aim is to get Malgas over from South Africa in plenty of time before the serious stuff starts in May.Â

“We hope to have Clayton with us for majority of pre-season and the full B Division campaign,” said Brend.Â

“We are hugely excited to welcome Clayton to Bideford. He will be an excellent addition to our side, both on the pitch with bat and ball, as well as off it with coaching qualifications already in order.”Â
