Bideford concert raises £2,000 for local Dementia Services

Joseph Bulmer

Last month, Andy Millar raised an incredible £2,001 in support of Over and Above through a charity concert at St Mary’s Church in Bideford. Andy wanted to raise funds specifically for the Dementia Services after his wife, Maureen, was supported by the Admiral Nurses Team at North Devon District Hospital before she sadly died in April 2021.

On the evening of the concert, people poured into the Church to enjoy incredible performances from The Appledore Singers and The Carry On Choir, including an emotional rendition from Andy of “You Are So Beautiful” by Joe Cocker, a song Andy and Maureen danced to every New Year’s Eve. The couple met on New Year’s Eve in 1981 and just 8 hours later decided to get married, tying the knot just a month later on February 1st.

Andy and the choirs are hoping to make it an annual event so they can continue raising funds to support local Dementia patients.

Josh Allan from Over and Above said “a huge thank you to Andy and all of the members from The Appledore Singers and The Carry On Choir for singing so beautifully to raise money in support of local dementia patients. Thanks to their fundraising we’ll be able to provide more items and dementia boxes to support patients whilst they’re at North Devon District Hospital.”
