Beat the winter blues and raise money for charity

North Devon Gazette

Care for Kids North Devon has launched a series of virtual challenges to help keep you active and beat away those winter blues.Â

Jump out of January and get Fitter in February with a different target every month. You will receive a medal and certificate for completing both challenges and there’s a bonus prize for the greatest effort.Â

Beat the Winter Blues costs just £10.50 to take part. All funds raised will allow Care for Kids North Devon to continue supporting local families who have a child diagnosed with a life-threatening illness or condition. The charity also carries out improvements at the Caroline Thorpe children’s ward at North Devon District Hospital.Â

Challenge 1 is “Jump out of January” – complete a 5km or 10km walk, run or cycle during the final weekend of January, as we jump out of the month and launch ourselves into the next. Send your results, along with a photo of yourself jumping for joy at the end of your challenge, to Care for Kids to share on social media.Â

Challenge 2 is “Fitter in February” – walk, run or cycle as many miles as you can throughout the month. There will be a little bonus for the person who completes the most miles. This challenge is all about building on what you can already achieve and making yourself fitter in these colder winter months.Â

Charity Manager Jacky Massos, says: “Our Beat the Winter Blues challenges are back! We got great feedback from those who took part last year, so we thought we’d give our supporters something fun to get stuck into this winter too. You don’t have to be super fit to take part, it’s all about having fun and feeling good. And signing up to ‘Beat the winter blues’ means you’ll be supporting our charity, which will also give you the feel-good factor.”Â
