BARNSTAPLE U12s played solid rugby to reach the final of the Land Rover sponsored Premiership Rugby Cup at Exeter Chiefs.

The competition brings together the strongest teams from Somerset, Cornwall and Devon.

Barum were undefeated in the pool stages of the competition notching up victories against the hosts Exeter Chiefs, Cullompton and Ivybridge and scored eight unanswered tries to secure a place in the semi-finals.

Barum encountered tough opposition in their semi against a strong Sidmouth side, but progressed into the final against Topsham.

The final was a great experience for the Barum youngsters as the match was played in the Sandy Park stadium.

Barum came under early pressure from a well-drilled Topsham side and conceded two early tries.

However, Barum rallied in the second half with a strong performance to claw back a try and put Topsham under pressure.

The final whistle came too soon and despite a valiant effort the Barnstaple youngsters were defeated 10-5.
