Northcott put on 50 for the first wicket with Will Matthewman and 122 with Shaun Simpson (60) for the second. He reached his half-century off 32 balls and needed 55 more to get to 100. Along the way there were 12 fours and three sixes.

Two balls after reaching his landmark, Northcott was stumped off the bowling of Steve Moore. Craig Eaves chipped in 39 towards the total of 269 for eight.

Barnstaple & Pilton were 152 for six in the gathering gloom when their overs ran out. Andy Barton hit 49, Moore 30 not out and Henry McEndoo 21.

Simpson topped the bowling list with three for 27 while Hyde had two for 32.
