North Devon Gazette

One of the UK’s finest songwriters is heading out on tour and the venue list for Blair Dunlop includes a stop at the Plough Arts Centre in Great Torrington on March 18.Â

“From the outside, when listening to the music of Blair Dunlop, you get the impression that, though he’s something of a natural talent, he continues to work hard to progress both his songwriting and musicianship…. you can hear the folk heritage coursing through his veins as well as the originality he brings to the genre.”  Songwriting MagazineÂ

His debut album, Blight & Blossom, won the coveted Horizon Award at the 2013 BBC Radio 2 Folk Awards, and 2010 debut EP is now a collector’s item. Blair was declared the “vital bridge between Brit folk's first and latest flowerings” by Q magazine.Â

Blair will tour extensively throughout March and April 2022 in the format that his fans love him best: one Man – one guitar!  Intimate selected venues have been chosen to allow the simplicity and sincerity of Blair’s songs and performances connect with his audience in the way Blair does best. Â

Blair Dunlop, award-winning British singer-songwriter and guitarist, has now released four albums, two ep’s and toured around the globe. Â

All of this in a short five-year career is astounding alone but what sets Blair apart from his peers is the lyrical and musical maturity with which he writes.  Â

His third album ‘Gilded’ was released in May 2016 on his own label – Gilded Wings – and was widely acclaimed gaining BBC Radio 2 Playlist status for the two single releases (‘The Egoist’ and ‘356’). Â

Prior to this Blair released his acclaimed album ‘House Of Jacks’ in mid 2014 which lived up to the promise of his 2012 debut ‘Blight and Blossom’.  Blair has now cemented his place as one of Britain’s most exciting talents.. 2018 Blair saw the release of his 4th album ‘Notes From An Island’ on his own label to rave reviews.  Â
