Twice as nice at Mill Road cup final double header

ATHLETICO Borough secured the North Devon Sunday Division One league and cup double with a 2-0 cup final win at Mill Road on Sunday.

The Barnstaple-based side – playing in only their second season in the league – made a slow start against Out of the Hat but went on to dominate the second half and were rewarded when substitute Joe Gillard broke the deadlock with 20 minutes left to play.

Man-of-the-match Kriss Boreham secured the trophy with Borough’s second five minutes from time. Manager Darren Hollyoak congratulated his side and also reserved plaudits for Jack Jenkins and Kane Dryden.

Earlier, The Koogars kept their own chances of a league and cup double alive as they beat Wanderers 6-1 in the Division Two cup final.

Tom Goldsworthy opened the scoring before Mark Gilfillan hit four cup-final goals to bring his Sunday league season tally to 56. Kye Goodman added the sixth before man-of-the-match Sam Aston scored a consolation for Wanderers.

Koogars are level on points with Division Two leaders Landkey but can wrap up the title with a win against bottom side Waverly Inn on Sunday.
