Artmakers launch ‘Weather’ virtual art exhibition

North Devon Gazette

‘Weather’ runs until 10th April 2022, featuring 19 artworks from north Devon based artists and makers and is the third Virtual Exhibition from ArtMakers. Â

The exhibition is hosted on virtual viewing platform, ‘ArtPlacer’ and is viewable on any digital device, desktop, tablet or mobile - Mac or Android. The theme ‘Weather’ was selected by internationally renowned Printmaker Merlyn Chesterman RE. Â
Â
“As artists, weather often plays an important part in our work and the climate is of increasing relevance to us all,” said Merlyn. “The weather in north Devon is, more often than not, noticeable, and for me, it is a lifelong quest to be able to capture something of it on paper. I was interested to see what other artists would do with such a dynamic subject, and one dear to so many of us.Â

“I am delighted to be part of ArtMakers and to have had the privilege of selecting works for this virtual exhibition. I have often put my own digital images up for consideration in exhibitions, and having curated this small show, I see it as another valid way of looking and sharing what we have made.”Â
Â
This is the third virtual exhibition ArtMakers has released since it was founded by Phil Parker & Hilary Beecroft in 2021. “ArtMakers grew out of a love of art, and an awareness of how marginal most artists and craft makers are in many people’s minds,” said Phil. “The impact of Covid on local arts and crafts outlets spurred us to start work on ArtMakers. We really believe ArtMakers is the beginning of something really special within the local arts and crafts community with an impact across the UK.” Â
Â
ArtMakers is a not-for-profit Community Interest Company, established in 2021 to support artists in northern Devon following the impact of Covid.Â
Â
The ArtMakers website, besides offering the opportunity to sell work via the online gallery and Virtual Exhibitions, also provides an information-support service on funding, art services, selling, marketing and much more to Artists and Makers across the UK.Â
Â
With over 30 categories of artwork, from landscape paintings to ceramic sculptures, ArtMakers offers a unique opportunity for local talent.Â
