Artists come together for Barnstaple mural project

YOUNG artists in Barnstaple have teamed up with their younger counterparts to begin the process of creating a mural for the Sticklepath Children’s Centre.

During half term they met with children under five and their families who use the centre at two workshops to create artwork to be used as the theme for the large scale mural, which will adorn one side of the building.

People had been invited to nominate young artists for the project, all of whom had to be under 21 and now it is their task to replicate the reproduce the families’ work on the outside mural.

The 10 young people involved in the project are Becky Derbyshire, Oliver Rhodes, Molly Hutchings, Alice Taylor, Charlie Lane-Bush, Jenny Grimshire, Harriet Morgan, Polly Jo Storey, Jimena-Lucia Parra Mello and Daisy Meeds.

They will be encouraged to put their own take on the mural and it is hoped the project, funded by an Action for Children Artsbank grant, can be completed by the end of this month.
