Pilton hit Shammy for six and go top of the table

PILTON Academicals completed their steady climb to the top of the Senior Division table with a 6-0 win against Shamwickshire Rovers Reserves on Saturday.

The Accies laid all the groundwork in an emphatic first half display, going 5-0 up before the break with goals by James Gregory (2), Stephen Robinson, Aaron Yeo and Antony Higgs.

They didn’t quite mirror the performance in the second half but did manage to add a sixth through Matt Hunt.

Elsewhere in the division, the weekend’s results went Pilton’s way as Shebbear United, Woolsery and Northam Lions all dropped points.

Shebbear had no reply for Bratton Fleming in a 3-0 defeat, their first since the same opposition in February.

Stuart Cameron got the hosts off to the perfect start and Martin Edwards scored the second as Bratton continued to dictate the play.

Liam Hawkins was brought down in the box and converted from the spot to secure the win.

Ryan West (2) and Trevor May scored for Northam in their 4-3 defeat at Bude and Woolsery had to settle for a point in a 2-2 draw at North Molton Reserves.

Ray Squire hit a fantastic opening goal for Combe Martin in a 2-0 win against Park United at Holland Park.

After being caught off-side on four or five occasions Andros Stavrinou saw off the visitors in the second half when he broke the trap and lobbed the keeper from 20 yards.

South Molton’s Jamie Giffard scored for the tenth game running in a 2-1 defeat at Chittlehampton.
