The Bard’s magical comedy will be performed outside at Park School this June

FLITTING fairies, forest bound lovers and raucous tradesmen abound as Park Community School in Barnstaple opens its grounds to host an outdoor performance of Shakespeare’s classic A Midsummer Night’s Dream.

On Thursday, June 23 Chapterhouse Theatre Company presents a magical evening of the best in family entertainment, with music especially written for Shakespeare’s magnificent verse, stunning costumes and a splendid band of travelling players.

It will be held on the sports field next to the cricket pavilion and the grounds will be open from 6.30pm with the performance starting at 7.30.

Families and friends are invited to bring picnics, rugs and chairs to enjoy the show. Refreshments will also be available and in true Chapterhouse tradition the performance will go ahead whatever the weather conditions.

It has been co-ordinated by The Friends of Park, the school parent and friends association in a response to the Barnstaple Town Plan to provide more cultural events for the community and to support the English and drama curriculum.

Tickets are on sale at the school reception or by calling (01271) 373131. Adults cost 12, children 16 and under 8 and family groups of two adults and two children 35.
