A message from the North Devon Gazette's Editor

North Devon Gazette

The North Devon Gazette is about to take on a new look and feel - reflecting our desire and determination to be at the heart of the local community.Â

The newspaper's name and title will remain the same after becoming well-established in its own right over the years.Â

But we want to produce content that will bring us even closer to our audience, readers and clients.Â

North Devon is a vibrant area, a GREAT place to live, work and visit with some GREAT people doing some GREAT things. We want to celebrate that success and shout about it from the rooftops. Â

Yep, we will still absolutely hold public bodies to account when the need arises and bring you some of the 'harder' news stories. But we want to talk about people, people who make North Devon the beautiful place that it is. What better way than from the horse's mouth and the community itself through a small army of especially-recruited community correspondents whose stories will be on-line as well as print?Â

You will be able to meet them all in just a few weeks' time as the new-look Gazette - written by the community for the community - takes a bow after months of hard work.Â

The paper’s new owners, Clear Sky Publishing, are confident the new look and layout will signal our intention to give our community the newspaper it deserves. Â

Let me reintroduce myself. My name’s Joe Bulmer, I’m the editor of the North Devon Gazette. I’ve been taking care of the Gazette since the beginning of this year and it has been a pleasure producing a paper serving my hometown and the area in which I grew up.Â

Some of you may know me from my time working for the North Devon Journal, DevonLive and the Bideford and District Post.Â

Let me reassure you that our new owners, Clear Sky Publishing, are committed to the long-term future of the Gazette and are investing in the people and technology we need to improve what we offer to our readers.Â

We know distribution has been important issue for many of you and I can confirm we are planning to provide more focused local coverage and broaden the areas we deliver to. Â

As part of this we would like to appeal to anyone interested in delivering the paper to please get in contact with us. We want all of our distributors to be local from the communities we serve and want to guarantee that your paper is delivered every week by a local distributor and do not want to go out of area to fill any gaps in recruitment.Â

I myself delivered the North Devon Gazette when I was a teenager, I remember the Moreton Park Road route well, not only did it help spark a passion for news which is still with me today, it also provided me with some much-appreciated money. Admittedly, I used the money to buy music, books and videogames. Â

We have so much to look forward to in North Devon right now. If you are interested in joining our distribution team, please contact us on 01603 772680, distribution.enquiries@archant.co.uk, or call Sue Spear on 01271 341622. Â
