War of the Worlds comes to Torrington

The chances of four actors recreating The War of the Worlds is a million to one – but still they come.
The acclaimed and hugely hilarious Pantaloons work their magic with the HG Wells classic at The Plough Arts Centre in Torrington this Sunday.
They invade the stage in this funny yet faithful new adaptation as they use instruments, puppetry and, err, enthusiasm to recreate deadly heat-rays, giant fighting-machines, squidgy tentacled Martians and interplanetary warfare on an epic scale.
The story has been adapted time and again over the decades in many guises since the Orson Welles infamous 1938 radio play that supposedly tricked America into believing they were genuinely under attack from Martians to Jeff Wayne’s 1978 rock-opera album.
The show starts at 4pm and there is a special offer – buy three tickets and get one free.
