Good news for Appledore visual arts festival as it enters its 14th year.
APPLEDORE visual arts festival will be returning in June despite severe cuts across the cultural sector.
The Arts Council has given a vote of confidence to festival, now in its 14th year, which will follow the theme of Landmarks.
Sandy Brown, the festival’s founder, said: “This support from the Arts Council in a time of great competition for funds is a validation of the high standard of our programming, the top quality artists we attract, our inclusiveness, and the innovative events we put on.”
The festival will take place from June 7 to June 10 in Appledore and will include workshops in yurts along the quay and a number of exhibitions and events.
Councillor Andrew Eastman, for Appledore, added: “I am delighted at the news. In these austere economic times we have this wonderful uplifting festival to help us celebrate and to lift the spirit.”
