North Devon Jazz Club presents acclaimed quartet Empirical this Monday in Appledore.
WIDELY acclaimed British jazz “pin up boys” Empirical will be making an appearance at North Devon Jazz Club in The Beaver Inn, Appledore on Monday.
Predicted by Jazzwise magazine to become “one of the most impressive bands in British jazz history”, the group is the recipient of several awards, including the 2010 MOBO Award, the 2009 Parliamentary Jazz Award for Best Ensemble plus Jazzwise and Mojo albums of the year for 2007.
The quartet plays highly distinctive music is fuelled by classic bebop which also sweeps across many contemporary styles.
The character of the band is partly formed by the equal status given to each of its superb musicians, alto saxophonist Nathaniel Facey, vibes player Lewis Wright, bassist Tom Farmer and drummer Shaney Forbes.
Fans are expecting an outstanding gig, in which the band will feature material from its new album Elements of Truth. It starts at will start at 8.30pm and entry is free, but a collection will be made for the band.
