ERR, yes, not much going on out there this week – could be the weather or the ridiculous timing of Christmas or even sunspots perhaps.

[Talk amongst yourselves for a few minutes…]

Right then. Those regulars who have not let me know otherwise I have left in the “at a glance” list but I strongly advise you to check with venues before travelling.

[Have another chat amongst yourselves…]

SOD ‘em & Sing Karaoke is one who doesn’t shut down for Christmas, thankfully, and Tom will be at his regular venues as normal this week.

Starting tonight (Wednesday) you can join him at Qube in Bideford from 9pm and again tomorrow at Quigley’s, what’s more he is in action at Quigley’s on Christmas Day too, so why not burn off a few calories in festive karaoke session?

There’s more on Boxing Day (Sunday) evening at the Heavitree Arms in Bideford and on Monday SSK is back at Kelly’s Bar in Barnstaple.

Sing Zone Karaoke is in action this Christmas Eve Friday at the Portobello Inn, with a chance to polish up your Christmas songs before hitting the cold turkey. So far as I know the Porto’s regular events, Shorty’s Music Night tonight and tomorrow’s Open Mic with Paul Lewis are going ahead as usual.

Also on Christmas Eve, The Palladium Club is one of very few venues in North Devon to host live music, with The Blues Doctors taking to the stage.

And the band have promised absolutely no Christmas sings!

This Sunday The Joiners Arms in Bideford has a festive Music & Song Session in the afternoon from 3-6pm as Baz Bix of The Dambuskers and no doubt a few friends turn out to play. All musicians and singers are welcome to go along and have a go.

There is live music in Appledore on Sunday evening as the hard working Brock ‘a’ Billy takes his rock ‘n’ roll/rockabilly Elvis-style show to The Seagate Hotel for a Boxing Day blowout from 9pm.

Heading towards Barnstaple and The Castle Inn at Landkey hosts The Famous Five on Christmas Eve – not Enid Blyton’s pesky kids (or was that Scooby Doo’s?) but a quintet of local open mic night veterans with a Christmas special from 9pm.

In Braunton on Friday The White Lion has a special festive celebration as The White Lion Choir led by Amy Newton sing carols and other festive songs in the pub garden from 6pm.

Err, right, that’s that then – see you next week!

Bah, humbug.
