THE unpredictable moods of the North Devon coast are revealed in all their fury in a new exhibition of work by Bideford photographer Dave Green.

Heavy Weather has just opened at Susie’s Tea Rooms in Appledore following the renovation of the former Schooners premises.

There are many names for the local coastline — the graveyard of the Atlantic, the sailor’s grave, the iron coast and many more, often referring to the huge number of shipwrecks, remnants of which can still be seen in every mile of the coast.

“The North Devon coast to me is drama, excitement, mystery, a place of beauty and foreboding, a place of peace, solitude and raging seas,” said Dave.

“These photographs go a small way in redressing the balance of the fair weather images usually seen. Hopefully they will excite the viewer to explore the coast and experience its sublime beauty at any time of the year and in any weather.”
