Newton Faulkner gives an intimate set and meets his fans in Solo Music
Barnstaple’s Solo Music was a little busier than usual on Wednesday afternoon as it played host to a special guest.
Singer/ songwriter Newton Faulkner visited the shop on Boutport Street as part of a regional promotional tour for his new album, ‘Studio Zoo’, which was released on Monday.
The Barnstaple shop is one of 10 venues which Faulkner is visiting and performing in this week.
Large crowds gathered in and around the shop of fans keen to catch a glimpse of the star as Faulkner performed a six-song set for fans who had pre-ordered ‘Studio Zoo’ at Solo.
The set included songs from his new album, as well as old favourite ‘Dream catch me’.
The musician also stayed back for well over an hour to meet fans, sign their copies of the new album and pose for photographs.
“It’s absolutely fantastic, he’s been brilliant,” said Solo Music owner Maggie Garrett.
“We were approached by Newton and the record company to see whether we wanted to it.
“We’ve closed the shop for most of the day but it’s certainly been worth it. Everybody’s got to meet him and get their CDs signed.”
Faulkner, who turned on Barnstaple’s Christmas lights in 2010 and performed at last summer’s Oceanfest at Croyde, was highly appreciative of his North Devon fans turning up to the shop.
“They’ve been amazing for years and it’s just fun,” he said.
“I just wanted to play for longer really, but we’ve got to get to Newton Abbot. We’re running around like lunatics this week!”
