Ever considered keeping bees and producing your own honey? An open day on Sunday (March 19) will help you to do just that
Anyone who wants to try beekeeping is invited to an Open Day hosted by the North Devon School of Country Beekeeping on Sunday at Harracott Village Hall near Barnstaple.
From 2-4pm, just drop in and chat to beekeepers and - weather permitting – you can meet some bees too. Protective clothing will be provided.
Anyone who wants to take it further can sign up for the group’s 12-week course from April 2 and every Sunday.
The course covers all aspects of keeping bees and is a hands-on experience and will enable participants to be competent to keep bees.
It is usually possible to source a colony of bees for students after the course, though it can’t be guaranteed
The group also runs social activities throughout the year.
