Do you want to walk the South West coastpath? Funny new book Just Off For a Walk by Steve Reynolds shows what happened with one man and his backpack

What happens when you take a sabbatical from your job and decide to walk the entire South West coastpath with no preparation to speak of?

Aside from getting a bit tired, you write a book, of course.

Just Off For a Walk by Steve Reynolds is a highly humorous account of one man’s decision to put one foot in front of the other.

What happens when a 37-year-old office worker, who exercises marginally less than the average cheese sandwich, decides to walk 630 miles of challenging coastline in one go?

Will he go on an epic voyage of self-discovery... or just get really knackered?

Find out the answers to these important questions by joining him on a grand adventure that takes in 26,719 steps, 921 stiles, 302 bridges, 91,000 feet of climbing and descending, one seal, zero basking sharks, lots of chips and one overweight, oversized backpack.

Steve is 39 and some of his family live at Bratton Fleming, so he knew a bit about the 630-mile long coastpath.

He said: “Walking started as a cure for insomnia and morphed into an actual passion.

“It took me two months, but someone who knew what they were doing and didn’t stop to smell the flowers could do it quicker.”

He said the book had been quite a success, with the Kindle version one of the bestsellers on Amazon.

Steve’s next book, about walking the West Highland Way, is due out in 2018.

Just Off For a Walk is available on Amazon and in selected bookshops.
