Here’s your chance to win tickets to see Joseph starring Joe McElderry at the Queen’s Theatre, Barnstaple. The Gazette caught up with the singing star before he comes to North Devon
Barnstaple is gearing up for the big stage production of Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat starring Joe McElderry with a five night run at the Queen Theatre this November.
The West End production from Bill Kenwright runs from Tuesday to Saturday, November 7-11 with X Factor winner Joe taking centre stage as Joseph.
The Gazette has teamed up with Parkwood Theatres to offer one lucky reader the chance to win a family ticket to see the show on opening night (November 7). See below for details.
We also caught up with Joe McElderry, who told us he was looking forward to returning to Barnstaple after performing here with his solo acoustic show almost two years ago.
He said: “It was only for one night and they were a great audience.
“I have been doing Joseph for a year-and-a-half on and off between my own music and solo projects. It’s a great family-friendly show – the music and story are great and it’s an iconic show that people can come along and sing and dance to and just have a great night out.
“I think Close Every Door is the highlight of the show for me, the emotional moment of the show, but it has lots of different elements – happy parts, sad parts, fun parts – it’s a great all around show.”
The show is eagerly anticipated in North Devon and it will have extra local interest with the 64 strong Stagecoach Barnstaple and Bude Choir singing alongside Joe and the cast.
The students are aged nine to 18 and have had gruelling rehearsals with 31 songs to learn before the show, carefully coached by singing teacher Jax Gibbins.
The show was written by Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice. Tim is a family friend of Stagecoach principal Kate Ridley-Holloway and even sent a personal note wishing the choir well.
