A Royal British Legion plaque commemorating the service of the men of the Ilfracombe Home Guard during the Second World War was unveiled at the town museum yesterday (Saturday).

The RBL branch in Ilfracombe has just finished collecting more than £11,000 for the Legion’s work in the Ilfracombe area.

The plaque was funded by two benefactors, plus RBL funds.

Ilfracombe museum has a collection of military memorabilia and costumes, as well as a World War One exhibition about the service of local men in the Great War.
