Don’t miss this ballooning, music and aerial spectacle from Friday to Sunday, July 11-13.
THE majestic sight of 40 hot air balloons taking to the skies will herald the opening of Tiverton Balloon and Music Festival next weekend (July 11-13)..
The exciting ballooning, music and aerial extravaganza will be held at the Tiverton High School and Petroc campus from Friday through to Sunday.
There really will be something in the packed programme to appeal to all ages and tastes, with two music stages, mass balloons ascents each day, a Comedy Night, Devon Food Festival, stalls, sideshows, radio controlled helicopters and much more.
The North Devon Gazette’s Pia Short along with Melissa Spiers grabbed the unique opportunity for a preview balloon flight:
“From the skies we saw a beautiful selection of hot air balloons towering with the gorgeous Devonshire sun,” said Pia.
“We witnessed breathtaking views while the pilot told us all about how the balloons work and the history behind them.
“For an experience similar to ours you can book your own hot air balloon flight on the festival website and it’s worth every penny.”
Back on the ground, with even more camping space on site this year, why not make a real weekend of it and ensure you won’t miss a moment?
When darkness falls on both Friday and Saturday visitors will be treated to the awesome Night Glow, as the balloons are transformed into giant beacons of light in a stunning spectacle choreographed to music.
During the day, meet the balloon crews, chat and maybe take to the sky yourself…
The Main and Origin stages will be packed on all three days with live performers and DJs offering a complete musical spectrum from folk, rock and pop to jazz, gospel and hip hop.
Friday is Comedy Night with four outstanding stand-up comedians including plus headliner Joe Rowntree, all introduced by sharp MC Frank Honeybone.
The Devon Food Festival will be running throughout the weekend, with some of the best products and produce from around the region.
There is so much more including craft stalls, archery, falconry, a planetarium, workshops, facepainting and a special Kids Zone to keep youngsters amused.
