West Buckland School brings Frank Loesser’s classic musical Guys and Dolls to the Queen’s Theatre in Barnstaple on Friday and Saturday, February 23-24.

A parade of showstoppers, such as Luck be a Lady Tonight, If I were a Bell and I’ll Know, all combine to secure this show’s long term reputation as one of the best loved musicals ever.

This is the first time the school has staged a musical at the Queen’s, having previously performed at the Landmark, but it was keen to support the reopened theatres.

The show is also supporting local charity Everything Ellie and collections will be taken at each performance.

Set in Depression-era Times Square, New York, Guys and Dolls recounts the story of a couple of big city gamblers and the women who love them.

It tells the overlapping stories of high-roller Sky Masterson, who falls in love with mission worker Sarah Brown, and lovable rapscallion Nathan Detroit, engaged for 14 years to Miss Adelaide, lead cabaret singer at the Hot Box Club.

Nathan runs a famous floating crap game, and is on a quest for a safe place for the game as Adelaide continues her quest to convince him to marry her.

The young cast have been dusting off their dancing shoes to produce some high-impact chorus numbers which are sure to set spines tingling, all choreographed by ex-professional dancer Vic Ford.

Tickets are available from the Queen’s Theatre at or call 01271 316063.
