North Devon schools invited to enjoy a day at the movies during October’s National Schools Film Week.
TEACHERS in North Devon are being invited to take their class to the cinema for free as National schools Film Week returns this October.
Between October 22-26, both Barnstaple Central Cinema and Ilfracombe Embassy Cinema will be screening a range of free movies for any schools that care to get in touch.
The 17th annual festival is organised by charity Film Education and aims to support classroom teaching by providing schools with a powerful experience for their students that links directly to parts of the curriculum.
This is backed up by an online library of resources for teachers, related to individual films and more generic topics.
“Many children often haven’t seen the film on a big screen,” said Gillian Rutherford at Barnstaple Central Cinema.
“Film Week gets more people in and increases the cinema’s audience.”
Teachers can find out more and book free tickets by going to www.nationalschoolsfilmweek.org
