UK indie band currently at number two and aiming to knock Justin Timberlake off his perch, will be headlining the GoldCoast Oceanfest at Croyde this June.
Gabrielle Aplin.FAST-RISING indie rock band Bastille has been unveiled as the headline act for this year’s 15th GoldCoast Oceanfest at Croyde.
The South London-based band is currently battling it out with Justin Timberlake for this week’s UK number one in the singles chart, after their new entry Pompeii shot to number two.
The songs comes from Bastille’s debut album Bad Blood, released by Virgin Records this Monday.
It is no doubt something fans at Oceanfest will get to hear a lot more of when the band takes to the stage on Saturday, June 22.
The three day music, sports and lifestyle festival runs from Friday, June 21 to Sunday 23, with surf and beach sport action on the sands plus live music from more than 20 bands as well as entertainment and trade stalls in the main arena.
Bastille began in 2010 as a solo project by singer-songwriter Dan Smith, but went on to become a quartet together with Chris ‘Woody’ Wood, Will Farquarson and Kyle Simmons.
The name comes from Bastille Day, the day Dan was born.
They will be supported on Saturday by teenage sensation, Gabrielle Aplin, already being touted as a brand new star of tomorrow and with chart topping credentials, since her current EP Please Don’t Say You Love Me is at number one on iTunes.
Headlining at Oceanfest on the Friday night is laid back Australian surf roots musician Xavier Rudd, with support from New York folk and blues singer songwriter Willy Mason.
Both days will see a full line up of live bands from the afternoon through to the night, with more music on Sunday.
