Emerging local artists invited to apply for support to help them take part in the September Devon Open Studios event.
LOCAL artists are being invited to apply for an Emerging Artist Bursary scheme to encourage new or emerging artists to take part in Devon Open Studios this September.
The bursary, administered by Devon Artist Network and funded by Helpful Holidays, will help support up to five artists living and working in Devon.
It aims to nurture and encourage new talent to take the next steps in their career by helping to fund their participation in the event, which will see studios across the region open to the public from September 8-23.
The bursaries are aimed at those taking their first steps into professional arts practice, returning to creative practice after a career break or change, or taking their art in a new direction. Applicants must be based in Devon - any art form will be considered.
Application is by email and should include a CV and letter of up to 500 words outlining:
1. What you hope to achieve during Devon Open Studios 2012.
2. How an Emerging Artist Bursary will help you to achieve this.
3. Your professional and artistic objectives for the next two years.
In addition to the above information, you will need to submit three images to support your application.
These must be emailed to Claire McLaughlin at devonopenstudios@gmail.com by March 1. For the full list of criteria, email Claire or call 07768 164560. More details can be found via www.devonartistnetwork.co.uk under the Open Studios “Resources” option.
