HOPEFULS will be competing for the coveted title of Barnstaple’s Got Talent at a special charity variety show on Saturday, March 29.

A line up of 12 acts will be appearing at Holy Trinity Church in front of four judges from 7pm to raise money for Mission Direct.

Organiser Pamela Harvey is keen to repeat the success of last year and to support the Christian charity, which works to helps the world’s poorest people.

Mrs Harvey, Marie Shortt and Mark Shortt went to Kumi in Uganda last year to build two much needed classrooms, as the existing classrooms were packed with more than 140 children to one teacher in each.

They also built a toilet facility and installed many Lifewater purification kits – meaning the children can now drink freshwater.

The group intend to return to Uganda this year.

Contestants at Barnstaple’s Got Talent will include singers Yazzy Chamberlain and Bethan Funning, plus puppet mayhem with Alien Spacelab Puppets and a bagpipe performance.

Entry to the event is free but a collection will be taken for Mission Direct.
