Bideford AFC’s U15s clinch title with a game to spare
Bideford AFC Youth U15s have wrapped up the North Devon Youth League with a game to spare.
The Robins claimed the title on Sunday, when rivals Braunton lost 2-1 to Bideford Blues, leaving them in an unassailable position after their own 6-0 win over Braunton a week earlier.
The Bideford U15s beat Appledore 6-1 in the cup on Sunday and have now won 16, drawn three and lost just once in all competitions this season.
The team, only in its third year, finished as runners-up in its first two seasons.
Bideford AFC Youth Secretary Neil Blackburn said: “I am really pleased for this team; we have a great group of players, parents and a good set up at the club.
“We have already had an amazing season, but it isn’t over yet with two cups still to play for - the North Devon Cup and the Michael Evans Memorial Trophy.
“The boys are really enjoying their football and they are playing well.
“We are a new club and we are trying hard to do things the right way by building sustainably. Three years ago Bideford AFC Youth was just an idea - we now have eight teams and 22 qualified coaches with more teams and coaches coming on board next season.”
