YOUNG Tarka Tennis Centre player Louis Davey has become the British Under-8 National Champion after winning an event in Bisham Abbey.

Louis had to qualify through local, county and regional events to make it through to the finals, with players from all over the country.

He plays his tennis at Tarka under the watchful eye of coach Hannah Miller.

She said: “ This is a great achievement for Louis. He’s worked so hard on the red ball in training, he deserves this win. Well done and keep up the hard work.”

This capped off a great year for Tarka, having already had three Devon champions in the summer.

With the start of the New Year and players already getting back on the courts, Tarka is now hoping to build on the success of 2011 and bring more of its young players through to make their mark on the game.
