Wright clinches Bideford Triathlon win

More than 150 line up for annual swim, cycle and run event

MORE than 150 were up bright and early on Sunday morning to take on the Bideford triathlon.

The race kicked off just before 8am at Bideford Quay, consisting of a 500 metre swim, 22.5km cycle and 5km run.

Oliver Wright was the first to complete the course, clocking a combined time of 1hr 3mins 42.85secs, beating his nearest challenger No Pinz by just six seconds.

Jason Chubb was third, coming in some four minutes behind the leaders.

Dean Crow of Plymouth triathlon club was the first club member to cross the line, while Lee Shepherd of North Devon Triathletes was the first North Devon club member to finish.

He came back in 1:13:42.2, good enough for 12th overall.

Kingsley School’s judo club finished 15th, Bideford AAC’s rowers were 19th and RMA North Devon 20th.

North Devon Triathletes’ Louise Harris was the fastest woman, finishing in 1:17:41.25 and 25th overall.
