Witheridge have moved within a point of the summit of the Carlsberg South West Peninsula League with their fifth straight win on Saturday.

Withy beat Devon rivals Cullompton Rangers 2-1, with Dave Rowe opening the scoring after 20 minutes with a fine long-range strike.

Witheridge continued to push and were two up early in the second half when Kyle Bassett headed home a Jack Langford cross.

Jack Towill got one back for Cullompton with a clever chip, but Withy always looked comfortable and recorded a fourth away win in a row.

They face Torquay United in the St Luke’s Cup quarter final on Tuesday evening.

Appledore made it through to the fourth round of the Graddon Vending Devon Premier cup with a fine 2-1 win over Plymstock United.

The Fishermen won their away tie to progress in the cup, and will now face Willand Rovers Reserves in the quarter finals. They now turn their attentions back to the league, with a trip to Newton Abbot Spurs on Saturday.
