Manager John Adams, 55, found himself in goal for the last 20 minutes when Buckland Brewer lost young keeper Jordan North, 16, with a twisted knee in their match away to Hartland Reserves.
But Buckland won the day and Adams had a clean sheet in a 2-0 victory. Marcus Jarvis netted midway through the first half and Buckland then had to dig in and soak up pressure before Jarvis grabbed a second two minutes from the end.
Braunton 4ths moved up to equal third on points with Bratton Fleming Reserves after beating their close Intermediate Two rivals 4-1.
They moved 4-0 ahead with goals by Tom Hannah, Clem Bennelick, Darryl Reed and a Lee Eate penalty which rebounded off the post for him to put away at the second attempt, before Bratton snatched a late consolation through Dan Bowles.
South Molton Reserves started in style away to Northam Lions 3rds when Steve Drew opened the scoring with a brilliant 20 yard volley after 30 minutes.
But the Lions equalised two minutes later and from a 1-1 half-time scoreline went on to win 5-1. Mark Hallett (2), Ali Bright (2) and Andy Wenham were the Lions’ scorers.
