Bideford TSC shooter wins Devon County Winter League title as A and B teams secure runner-up spots

Bideford Target Shooting Club’s Ann Travis has become Devon Ladies champion in a thrilling close to the winter season.

The championship is decided over the eighteen rounds of the Devon County Winter League and after round 17 Ann was trailing Lindsay Agates of Pinhoe by two points.

A good final round of 99 for Ann, with Lindsay scoring 97 meant that the two ladies were tied for the title – meaning a shoulder-to-shoulder tie shoot was needed to decide the champion.

The ladies met at Okehampton on Sunday to shoot one card apiece - and Ann came out the victor with a fine 98 against Lindsay’s 94.

All three Bideford teams won their final round matches convincingly, with the A and B teams finishing as runners-up in their divisions, while the C team ended fourth.
