Barnstaple Town’s recent drought came to an end on Saturday when they ended a run of five league defeats with a 3-1 win at home to fellow strugglers Radstock Town.
It leaves a comforting five point gap between Town and the closest of the three teams below them in the Premier Division table.
Town started brightly and George Swain had a good early effort.
But there were nearly 40 minutes of deadlock before Connor Clifford put Town ahead following a free kick by Ricky Marinaro.
It sparked a flurry of action as the visitors then broke through the Barnstaple line for a headed equaliser, only for Town to take the lead again when a corner came in and Sam Chittey provided the scoring touch in the last minute of the first half.
Town increased the pressure in the second half and were rewarded with their third goal from Swain for a vital victory.
Barnstaple’s next league game will be on Sunday away to Bristol Manor Farm.
