Leaders make it 11 wins from 11.
NORTH Devon Table Tennis League Division One leaders Torrington A made it 11 wins from 11 with a 9-1 victory against Balls of Fury.
John Cheung inflicted the only chink in Torrington’s armour with a single point for the division’s bottom team.
Smugglers were cruising 7-0 but Ian Rice and David Grey took the last singles games for Castle Knights.
Second-placed Misfits had a similar win over Holsworthy A, but Misfits captain Peter Kneil lost two very close sets in the best of five to Holsworthy’s Dave Salisbury and Pete Freeburn.
Hartland remain top in Division Two after their 8-2 win over Mad Batters, Steve Hilsdon top scoring on this occasion. The Batters’ Dave Sweeney ran him close in five games but the Terriers were too strong overall.
Second-placed Hopefuls, hopeful of getting their top slot back, had a comprehensive win over Dolphins.
Only three sets went beyond three games in their maximum win.
The closest match this week was between Holsworthy B and Littleham. Littleham’s Dave Stone was unbeaten and Alan Pomeroy supported with a double to counter Bob Montague’s pair for Holsworthy.
