Bideford ABC boxer knocked out after getting cut by GB fighter
BIDEFORD ABC’s Jack Langford had a busy weekend of boxing in Liverpool, reaching the semi-finals of the senior ABA Championships.
On Friday he boxed well to beat Jack Cullen from Poole of Life ABC. Langford was full of energy with plenty of combinations to put him into the semis with a convincing points win.
In the semis, he drew the number one seed, Great Britain representative Anthony Fowler.
It was tit-for-tat in the first round with Langford boxing well off the jab and at long range and Fowler having greater success inside.
An elbow in the second round caused a nasty cut over Langford’s eye which affected his vision as Fowler enjoyed a good round.
It was all to play for in the last and Langford showed great heart, but with his cut worsening the referee halted the bout and it was Fowler who went on reach the final.
Langford will still be proud of his run, winning five fights on his road to the semis.
