North Devon netball club reaches gold CAPS standard

TITANS Netball Club has become a gold CAPS-accredited club.

The prestigious accreditation from the Club Action Planning Scheme – the highest a netball club in England can achieve – recognises the work the club has done in recent times to offer a great netball experience to the North Devon community.

The club have just enjoyed their best ever season both on the court and off it, with the coaching and umpiring programmes continuing to grow and develop.

Club founder and coach Lorraine Beel hailed the CAPS accreditation as ‘fantastic news’, having been involved since the club formed in 2002.

There was more good news for the club this week, too, as 16-year-old volunteer Georgia Morris added a Torridge Community Action Through Sports award to her recent Devon Sports Award.

Her passion for the sport, has seen her complete over 100 hours of volunteer work for Titans in the last season under the England Netball ‘Pass on Your Passion’ scheme.

And several of the club’s members are also up for ‘South West Goalden Globes’, which will be handed out next month. Titans have been nominated in four different categories.

Georgia has again been shortlisted for the young volunteer award, while Rebecca Manley is up for official and Lorraine Beel is a finalist for the Muriel McNally award for outstanding contribution to coaching, umpiring and admin.

The club are also shortlisted for outstanding netball club.
