THE Torrington Triathlon may be dubbed the ‘Terror’ by competitors but the 2014 event promises to be a far friendlier affair for family, friends and spectators who will coming along to support the race.

Torrington Pool, which is hosting the Triathlon on Sunday, July 27 (8am-4pm), has an action packed fun day of activities planned both inside and outside the pool.

While competitors take on the gruelling challenge of a 400 metre swim, 32km bike ride and 4.5km run in the triathlon event, spectators will be able to enjoy a whole lot of fun, with a bouncy castle and bungee run just a couple of the activities available.

The fun day also includes football and family games as well as a fun run. Inside the pool, people can try mini polo, scuba diving taster classes and inflatable fun sessions.

Richard Bean, manager of Torrington pool, said: “The event always enjoys great community support and the 2014 Torrington Triathlon promises to be a fantastic event.”

The Torrington Triathlon is part of the 1610 race series, organised in partnership with Total Buzz Events. It takes in High Bickington and Beaford and the stunning local countryside and is suitable for both novices and experienced athletes.

Entry costs £33 for BTF affiliated and 1610 members and £38 for unaffiliated participants, with relay teams charged £45 for members and £50 otherwise.
