Witheridge, Appledore and Holsworthy all lose final games
WITHERIDGE finished their Carlsberg South West Peninsula League Premier division season with a 2-0 defeat at Godolphin Athletic on Saturday.
Despite a slow finish to the season, which has seen them lose four of their final six games in the league, Witheridge still finished an impressive sixth in the top division of the Peninsula League, a record high for the club and enough to put them above rivals Bodmin Town on goal difference.
APPLEDORE also concluded their Peninsula League season with a defeat, going down 2-1 at home to bottom-of-the-table Plymstock United.
The Fishermen have enjoyed mixed fortunes in Division One East this year, winning 10 and losing 14 of their 30 matches to claim a mid-table finish in 10th.
In Division One West, HOLSWORTHY finished just one place and two points above the foot of the table.
The Magpies’ season ended in disappointing fashion this week, with a 3-0 defeat to Penzance seeing them drop below their opponents in the final league standings.
Holsworthy will look to improve next season, having lost 23 out of 30 matches this term, amassing the league’s worst goal difference along the way.
