THE bad weather caused some disruption to the Ramsey trophy, but the upcoming semi final dates should be on course.
In the Ramsey Results Round One, top team Hopefuls found the handicaps too great and lose all of the first five games to Holsworthy B. Having disposed of the 2nd division leaders, Bob Montague, Barry Pitts and Jeremy Rickman now meet the unbeaten 1st division top team, Torrington A, tomorrow (Thurs) on their own turf.
Littleham entertained Hartland and swept into a 3-0 lead. Alan Briggs and Steve Hilsdon fought back to make it 3-2, but Alan Pomeroy and Mike Stevens steadied the ship and with Mike Bellew contributing twice in the doubles, Littleham emerged the winners with a score of 7-2.
Torrington B may be bottom of the league, but they played their handicap advantage to the full and held their nerve winning 5-0 to Mad Batters, despite the fact four of the five required a decider.
Herons beat Balls of Fury 5-4 in a tight match, with Balls of Fury winning the first two, losing the next three and then alternating in wins with the score at 4-4. In the last set, Herons won the next two games despite losing the first game.
Dolphins will be playing Castle Nights tonight (Wed) and the match between Misfits and Holsworthy A is still awaiting a date.
Quarter final matches started this week, with the Herons v Torrington B in Instow and Littleham v Smugglers at Littleham yesterday (Tues). Tomorrow Holsworthy B will play Torrington A at Sutcombe. A date for Dolphins or Castle Knights v Misfits or Holsworthy A is still to be confirmed.
