A family of North Devon swimmers and surf life-savers took top positions in The 2012 British Board Paddle Series.

Youngest member of the Surridge family Lydia,10, came first in the eight-10 years series, while Zac,11, won silver in all four races in the 11-13s.

Jessica, 13, came third overall in the Elite U16 category, while Josh ,15, won joint first place. Dad Andy also came joint first in the Men’ s Open Race.

Following the paddle, Josh, Jessica and Zac all competed in the Big Bay Dip Open Water Swim and all finished first in their age groups.

The paddle series comprised four races held in Ilfracombe, Newquay, Brighton & Broad sands, with the younger Nippers competitors having to paddle 1.5 km and Elite Under-16 and Open competitors 3km in open water.

All five of the family athletes are members of Woolacombe Surf-Life Saving Club and the children swim with Ilfracombe Swimming Club.
