The paddle series comprised four races held in Ilfracombe, Newquay, Brighton & Broad sands, with the younger Nippers competitors having to paddle 1.5 km and Elite Under-16 and Open competitors 3km in open water.

All five of the family athletes are members of Woolacombe Surf-Life Saving Club and the children swim with Ilfracombe Swimming Club.
